In the months since I announced I was running for the State Senate in June, I have been humbled by the overwhelming support I’ve received from the people in District 42. We ran a positive campaign focused on the issues that matter to the residents of the district, and the voters responded by delivering a landslide victory.
Campaigning is a lot of work, but nobody worked harder than the volunteers who who made phone calls, mailed letters, and walked the district with me in the glaring heat of a Charleston summer. The hundreds of volunteers who donated their time and talents were invaluable and this win would not have been possible without their efforts.
In the coming days, I will be proud to be sworn in as your new Senator, but this is not my seat — this is our seat. We’re in this together and I will do my best to make you proud in Columbia and ensure that your priorities are never overlooked.
