Today, former candidate for SC Senate District 42 Emmanuel Ferguson endorsed Marlon Kimpson in the Democratic run-off primary on August 27th.
In making the endorsement Ferguson said that Kimpson is the right person to move the district forward.
“This is an important run-off. We need to make sure that the new State Senator is capable of leading the district in the right direction. Marlon Kimpson is that person,” Ferguson said.
Kimpson praised Ferguson as an up and coming leader.
“Emmanuel brought a lot of energy and new ideas to the table. He’s going to be a leader in this area for a long time to come. I’m proud to have him on the team,” Kimpson said.
Herbert Fielding, a former candidate for State Senate District 42 endorsed Marlon Kimpson today. Kimpson is in a run-off primary scheduled for August 27th.
Fielding says he is endorsing Kimpson because of his commitment to the people of District 42.
“I’ve known Marlon Kimpson and his family for most of my life. I am endorsing him because of his dedication to our public schools and to expanding Medicaid. Marlon is committed to the people of district 42 and will be a strong advocate for us. He’ll also stand up for the Democratic Party’s values and President Obama’s polices.”
Kimpson said he is honored to have Fielding’s endorsement heading into the final 10 days of campaigning before the run-off.
“Herbert Fielding is a well-respected leader in the Democratic Party and ran a solid campaign. I’m honored to have him on board.”

Reps. Mack, Stavrinakis, and Whipper
Today, three Charleston area State Representatives endorsed Marlon Kimpson’s campaign for State Senate, in District 42. Representatives David Mack, Leon Stavrinakis, and Seth Whipper all officially endorsed Kimpson’s campaign. State Representative Wendell Gilliard has previously endorsed Kimpson, meaning that all of the State House Members representing district 42 have endorsed Kimpson.
Kimpson was the leading vote getter in yesterday’s Democratic Primary, more than doubling the votes of the second place finisher. The run-off is scheduled for August 27.
